Seasons Greetings from the Troops of WWII to FDR
The Roosevelts received an enormous volume of holiday mail, much of which remains in the archives. These cards came from the general public, but the cards from the soldiers, sailors, or flyers – some handmade, some drawn – can be moving or even quite humorous.
Ellen Roosevelt’s Ice Yacht Signal Pennant
This ice yacht signal pennant belonged to Ellen Roosevelt, FDR’s first cousin. Like her father John Aspinwall Roosevelt, owner of the ice yacht ICICLE, Ellen regularly sailed these record-breaking vessels.
