Dutchess-Putnam region’s job growth best in state in March

Throughout the state, the area with the most job growth during the month of March was the Dutchess-Putnam region.

That’s according to preliminary statistics from the state Department of Labor, in a monthly report of year-over-year employment change.

The area saw a 2.5% increase in private sector jobs, adding around 3,000 over March 2018. The Ithaca region saw 2.3% growth, while the Albany-Schenectady-Troy region and Syracuse saw 2%.

Dutchess County Assistant Executive Ron Hicks said he “was not surprised at all” about the report, given the development projects and job opportunities, such as the growing footprint of film production, that have come to the region.
